It’s simple, click on the links below to instantly book and pay on airbnb.com
Do I need a 4x4?
No, but you do need a strong, reliable, mid-sized vehicle. The road is tarred but once you turn into Tofo or Tofinho is becomes compact sand. Depending on weather conditions, like rain, you may have to take an alternative route to the houses. Please contact me directly for road updates, prior to arrival. For more information on transport alternatives, please click here.
Is breakfast included?
No, the houses are self-catering with fully equipped kitchens. There are a great selection of restaurants and cafes in the area as well as meal home delivery. For more information, please click here.
Can I use credit cards in Tofo?
Yes and no, it depends on the business and connectivity level. It is best to have local currency with you.
There is no ATM in Tofo. Visit the ATM at Babalza or Bomba gas station just before entering Tofo.
Can I buy fresh local seafood?
Yes, there is plenty of local fresh seafood being sold by the fishermen (and middle men), it’s fine to buy and have a bbq/braai and it is acceptable to negotiate the price. Use your own scale for accuracy. Make sure there is no ice or excess water with the seafood and make sure it’s set to kgs and not lbs.
Please make sure you buy SUSTAINABLE catch and that it is the legal size; please check the crayfish (aka. lobster) don't have eggs attached underneath, do not buy crays that tails measure less than the length of the tip of your thumb to crease of your wrist; don’t buy reef fish such as parrot fish. Common good eating white fish in the area is called Cuta aka. King Mackerel or Cera.
When buying fish check for freshness by inspecting the gills (make sure they are bright red), the eyes (not dull and sunken) and smell.

Is there Malaria?
Yes, there is malaria in the area and most of Mozambique. There are fewer mosquitoes at the Villas because we are so close to the beach and have a constant cooling ocean breeze. However, it’s best to keep the mosquito doors and window nets closed at all times, especially early morning and late afternoon.
Taking preventative malaria medication is a personal choice as there may be side effects. If you are going to take preventive malaria medicine you need start it before you arrive in Mozambique.
At the very least you may want to travel with a course of Coartem and a home malaria test kit (you can purchase these at the big Mr Fresh pharmacy, called Mopani, at Babalaza).
